DIGITAL NOMADS

OUR “OFFICE” in Chiang Mai (Perfect for DIGITAL NOMADS on a Budget)

This month, we would like to share some details about our “office”!

A couple of weeks ago we moved to Chiang Mai, we have never been to the north of Thailand and always knew that Chiang Mai is the place to be for digital nomads. Also, we realised we like it a bit more than Bangkok. Those green mountains in the background are lovely and the streets more laid back!

You have literally everything you need, plenty of social events, and you can find good quality places for a very fair price! And…the more you stay, the better deal you get! For us, we were looking for a one-month deal, max 1 month and a half – bear in mind that is not so easy as most studios/ apartments would take you for a min of 3 months, no less! And some, even for a min of one year!

So I (Isabel) had pinned a few condos on the map, and as I was walking around the city, I stumbled upon this building: Huaykaew Place which had a sign outside saying affordable rooms the actual is:

“Nimman Expat Home”

It has spacious a/c double bed rooms with private bathroom, shared kitchen, living room/coworking space and a gym for a very, very good price!

We moved in and we don’t want to leave! The only downside is not having a pool, but hey, you can just walk in some swimming pools around Chiang Mai when you fancy a dip!

Here is the price breakdown, not sure if this is a special price because of the low season (May) but we thought it was unbeatable!

Monthly Rental: 4.400 baht = € 117

Electricity fee per unit: 6 baht = € 0.16

Infrastructure service fee per month: 500 baht = € 13.40

1 Key card: 200 baht = € 5.35

Water usage included

Extras:

  • Wi-Fi up to 4 devices (good speed): 300 baht per month = € 8.00
  • Bed Sheet: 500 baht per month = € 13.40
  • Small gym: 100 baht per month = € 2.70

Room and bathroom cleaning is once a week and if you have included the bedsheet option, every second week you get them changed. Be sure to have your own towel tough!

Drinkable water is always available in the kitchen and most importantly, the coworking space room has a/c, is never busy and opposite the kitchen! Oh, and they always provide some things in the kitchen like coffee and kitchen tissues.

Also, quite important: The reception team is lovely and the building has a rooftop at the 9th floor with green plants overlooking the mountains – I know, not bad!
